Birth* | Catharine Mary Mc Cumber was born on 1 September 1867 at Big Creek, Carroll County, Missouri![]() |
Birth | She was born at Carrollton, Carroll County, Missouri![]() |
Birth-note | Her declaration for widow's pension says she was born at Carroll County, Missouri; her death record and obituary says she was born at Big Creek, Missouri. I don't find a Big Creek in Carroll County, perhaps it is a section of Carroll County and not a town. The 1870 census says she was born in Ohio. This is highly unlikely as her father make his declaration for pension in Carroll County, Missouri in Oct 1866. |

Birth* | Emma Lulu Gilkison was born on 25 November 1865 at Jefferson County, Ohio![]() |
Birth-note | Emma's death record shows her born near Steubenville, her obituaries show her birth at Steubenville or near Steubenville, the funeral card also shows near Steubenville. My mother's group sheets and computer records do not show Steubenville. They show Jefferson County, Ohio. Mother knew, her grandmother, Emma; although at the time of her death in 1955 I don't think she had become interested in genealogy. However, much of her information came from interviews from many of the older members of the family. As she had possession of the various obituaries and did not indicate a birth in Steubenville I have to assume that Steubenville is not correct. Steubenville may have been used as the closest town. |

- [S110] Assumption by Patt Ricketts, Philip and Julia Pike are shown boarding with Emeline Bennett in the 1870 census. The children shown with the Bennett family in the 1860 census are Helen, William H., George and Susan. Philip Pike is shown as father-in-law in the William J. Loder household in the 1880 census. Also in the household is niece, Susa Bennett. The age for Susa and Susan match and supports the premise that Susa is Emeline's daughter Susan, thus Emeline is supposed to also be Philip's and Julia's daughter. As Emeline is not found in 1880 census it is supposed that she has died and her children are not living with other family members. It should be noted that Hazel (Freeman) McNeil always said that Emeline was Phillip's and Julia's oldest daughter.

Birth-note | The 1850 census and 1870 census indicate she was born in New York; the 1860 census shows Vermont. However, the census for her father indicates he is in Vermont until the 1820 census. Consequently it is likely her birth was in Vermont. Her daughter, Catherine's death record, states her father was born in Vermont and mother in New York. Since all records for Philip indicate he was born in New York, the informant (Catherine's brother-in-law) may have gotten them switched. |
